Use all the new technology from the Gen II 2.7 liter Ecoboost. Apply it to a 4.3 liter 60 degree V-6. Consider 5 valves per cylinder head for efficiency and performance (Yamaha has done this before and probably would be happy to consult on this). Instead of running the air blower off exhaust gas or belt drive, run it with a computer controlled high speed (geared) permanent magnet alternating current motor with a variable frequency drive and active magnetic bearings. This should be able to best all the large gas V-8 competitors either current or in the near future in performance and fuel economy.
