Between the painted lane stripping on all road ways insert a computer chip/beacon that identifies the exact location, speed limit, and upcoming exits or turns. In addition, all traffic signal or stop signs have a chip or beacon that alerts vehicles that light is about to change or a stop is a head. Using this idea in conjunction with GPS and the technology already out there, vehicles could drive themselves. However, the vehicles computer would have automatically pull the vehicle over and shut down if there is problems with the system (the driver could then switch to manual driving).
