Affordable Performance
Remeber when Ford thought we didnt want a V8 RWD Mustang and tried to give us the Probe as a replacement? And it was the low cost FOX body Mustang that kept selling and selling despite not having any updates to speak of between 1987 and 1993? Well there was MASS air but that was for emmisions and a pure mistake on their part that it helped moddin the car. I mean the Probe had all the latest in tech and even had a redesign after just a few years in producton, but the Mustang kept selling. I wonder if Ford has forgotten that the public wants an affordable RWD V8? In 2003 they sold more V8 Mustangs than they all 2005 Mustangs. How did a 10 year old car out sell the new body with the new motor? By being afordable. My 2003 had evey avalable option and I had it on the road for less than 24K. Even when you adjust for inflation that still only 28k.

Ken K Correction, Robert Todd, what keeps the Camaro alive is the existance of the origional pony car, the Mustang!!!!!

Ken Keith The smartest thing to do with the Mustang would be to make a stripped down model with a V-8 around 351 cubes, and putting out around 450 to 500 hp, and cheap so the average guy could afford it.

Anthony Spencer I think Ford learned their lesson on trying to kill the Stang, the Camaro was dead in 2002 and they still made the Mach1 and Cobra with a supercharger and followed up with a new body and motor in 2005. I think they don't remember the whole lesson from the Thunderbird in 1958. Yes they sold a bunch of them by making the 4 seat luxo barges but what happened to the slot that it left open? Now we have a Mustang that is too expensive and nothing for the common man, just like the 1958 Thunderbird.

Robert Todd The Probe was an accountants dream. The Mustang is net. The Mustang is a great American Hot Rod. Probebly there are still people at Ford that would kill the Mustang for the Probe. In my opinion, the thing that keeps the Mustang there is the Camero
