2014 Ford Fusion ST

Simple idea: Take the beautiful 2013 Fusion, give it the AWD suspension and the flappy-paddle gearbox, then add the 2.0L Ecoboost I4, give it a turbocharger, and put it in the MIDDLE. Yeah! Take this mid-sized four-door dreamboat and turn it into a completely-bonkers two-door high-performance American sports car born on the road and destined for the track. Give Audi and BMW and Mercedes something to fear at Silverston or Laguna Seca.

Jordan W Great idea. But it needs the 3.5 EcoBoost, AWD, and a Manual Transmission. A front drive, automatic does not a performance car make.

You, sir are amazing. Instead of a flappy-paddle gearbox, I would enjoy a close-ratio 6 speed manual. Keep the price under $35,000 and that would make the Fusion the perfect American sedan.

Monroe W You know you can already order a 2013 Fusion configured pretty much exactly like this, right? Get the SE or the Titanium with the 2.0 Eco Boost and it comes with paddle shifters. TADA! Fusion ST!

Jack E A mid-engined fusion. I call this idea as likely as a mid engine Mustang. Keep the ideas realistic. 4-door, 2.0 (or maybe 3.5) ecoboost engine with awd and available 6spd Man or DSG would be a great place to start.

Jesse F I'd be happy with the 3.5 Ecoboost V-6 from the SHO and a close ratio 6 speed Manual added as an option for the AWD Fusion. That would be a fun car to drive.
