Great work on the new Fusion guys.
They hybrid battery, especially for plug-ins, is the most expensive component. And yet, peoples' commutes vary significantly. I don't need a battery that can go 30 or 50 miles when my commute is 5. And yet, I want a plug in.
Therefore, one would logically make the battery sizes optional, variable, and customizable to the car purchasers needs. I'm sure this presents some engineering and regulatory challenges. But with software, and a kick in the teeth to some crazy regulators, it would seem easily doable.
You guys would be the FIRST to do this. You would save consumers money who didn't need oversized batteries. You would increase the market potential of plug in hybrids. And it would be smart.
Get to it.
