I used to drive an '88 Crx and got 55+mpg. This was because they used the Pgm FI to lean the mixture to something around 20:1 vs 14:1 in final drive above 45mph. The extra heat was transferred away by use of a slightly oversized radiator. Honda moved away from this in the next generation Civic with v-tec and claimed the timing gave better power to performance. The same should be done with such cars as the Focus/Fiesta and you would see a great gain in Fuel Efficiency. If desired then you could even put a "Green" button on the car to allow it to automatically do this when engaged.
