The majority of vehicles that I see on the roads have only the driver in them. In the past 10 years, with all of the vehicles I have owned, the rear seat has been occupied perhaps 10 times. I would like to see Ford do a two seater with a bit of cargo space, something along the lines of BMW's old Z3 Coupe, but much lighter, perhaps around 2500-2700 lbs depending upon options. The EcoBoost 1.0 would be absolutely fine considering that the Focus comes in at around 2900. Front/rear/awd doesn't matter so much, just cut weight and size of the vehicle to give your customers more options for fuel effieicncy. Ford is already using a multi-prong approach to efficiency between hybrid/electric/EcoBoost, and all of these would pay off even more in a smaller package. For a performance version, offer the EcoBoost 1.6. To me, all this sounds like a two seater Fiesta spinoff, with a funky body, that you could name the Capri. It also sounds like a new market for Ford.

Brad B Hey Joe B ! I too think along those lines, and in Europe Ford offer the Fiesta in a dedicated two seater in a delivery van type. But, (there always is one) when you compare the numbers from the UK model to what we have now the current Fiesta fills the bill. I am a large advocate of the station wagon, but am willing to bend. Take the C-Max Hybrid for instance. Ford refers to it as an Multi-Activity-Vehicle, or MAV for short. For those of us who call-em-as-we-see-em it's a wagon, just don't tell anyone else though. Another thought ....guess why the Edge is a huge hit with their owners. No 3rd row seats, better hauling capability, better handling, better visibility. I'd like a '13 Flex w/o 3rd row seating, a good load floor that would also cover the place where the seats use to be. Ford listens, another UK model you'd like would be the UK Fusion wagon, I'd like one myself. 10 months(s) ago via Ford Social
