Make all battery packs for electric vehicles a standard configuration. Then convert closed down gas stations to automated battery exchange stations. The tanks need to be removed to satisfy EPA, so install the machinery to automatically remove the discharged battery pack and replace it with one that is fully charged. Should take less time than filling up with gas. The station would then charge the old pack and replace it in another vehicle. Envision driving in, the battery pack is removed from underneath and replaced with one fully charged, you pay and drive off.
