Automatic Transmission - Disengage engine at stop.
Some cars stop their engine when they come to a complete stop and the brake is applied, then restart the engine when the brake is released. For cars that do not support start/stop, I suggest a variation where the engine is disengaged from the transmission when the car has stopped and the brake is applied then reengaged when the brake is released.
The benefits are reduced fuel use, reduced component wear and a smoother running engine.
Open the clutch instead of shifting to neutral to allow quick reengagement of engine in case of emergency and to avoid state laws which prohibit shifting to neutral at a stop light.
