I own a 2010 F250. Because the tailgate lever activates by lifting up and I am short, I have to step on the bumper to open the tailgate. Instead of mounting the lever horizontally (requiring one to grab it from the underside), mount it vertically (keeping it hinged at the top) with a handle constructed to allow grabbing it from either side. That way I can operate it from the ground. It would be even better to hinge it at the bottom, but there may be safety issues with doing so.
