With new Federal CAFE std's coming , why not offer the UK Ford Ka with a bit more HP here in the USA and even the Mexico market Ford Courier as well ? They might actually develop a loyal following both owners and aftermarket suppliers. Fun , frugal and reliable . Even insurance could cost less much less annual fuel costs.
There's not really a ceiling on gas prices , cost to produce 17inch and larger diameter tires ect . In a climate of poor economic health i believe many will look through the 5-7 year cost of ownership plan and buy on price . These two vehicles could become a bread and butter of sorts for Ford as the industry and world changes .
At current exchange rates < MSRP's> i know i would rather buy one of each of those two vehicles for my driveway than one loaded Fiesta with all the bells and whistles.
Less is more these days . My 2 cents anyway.

Brennan S I Love seeing all the little cars, iQ, 500, Spark, they're fun and cheap. They're all you NEED and have optional features that people want. The Ka would need to undercut the base price of the Fiesta by at least $1,500 but make it look like more (ex: fiesta $14,295, Ka $12795, I didn't go check the prices, just an example). The Ka has a great little design which looks modern, functional and attractive. My wife and I would certainly be looking at it very closely as a next car. 1 months(s) ago via Ford Social
Some Guy The first Ka in 1996 was pretty cool. The next (current) one doesn't look so great. It shares some design with the Fiat 500, as I understand. Maybe when the next generation arrives, we can get that one. As gas prices go up, we can drive more smaller cars instead of such big vehicles.
Brian, are you thinking if the Kuga? 1 months(s) ago via Ford Social
Brian Langston Check out the 2013 Ford Escape, It is pretty much the American version of the Ka. 3 months(s) ago via Ford Social
