Bring Back The Wagon
After searching for a few months we settled on an 05 Focus Wagon SES.  We are so very pleased with our new car.  I wish Ford would bring back the wagon to the US.  I looked at the specs and just for curiosity's sake, I compared them to the Edge.  I have a less expensive car with more interior space.  The hauling capacity of the Focus wagon compared to the Edge was surprising.  Seats up or seats down the wagon has more room.  Plus it is a smoother ride, less expensive to own, better gas mileage, easier to park, and the list goes on and on.  I know the margin on an Edge is greater than the Focus.  I get why Ford doesn't want to bring it back.  The all mighty dollar.  It won't make as much money for them as an Edge or Escape.  That being said, there are a lot more people who would cross over to Ford if the wagon was an option.  I have been buying domestic since I learned how to drive.  Unfortunately the choices keep dwindling.  If I want a brand new wagon that is somewhat affordable the only option is Volkswagen.  I like the styling and they seem to be quite popular.  The only thing holding me back is that it is not a domestic brand.  I can't be the only one out there who is facing this dilemma.  If Ford brought the Mondeo(Fusion) or Focus wagon to the US, offered it in FWD or AWD, they would definitely eat into the piece of the pie that Subaru has.  You can't swing a dead cat in my neck of the woods without hitting a Subaru wagon.  Just do it.  You won't be disappointed.  I know I would be ecstatic!  So in all honesty, why won't Ford bring back the wagon?  Don't say Americans don't want them cause we know that is just not the case.  So why?  You already produce the car.  There would be minimal changes needed for the American market.  It's right there, ready to go.  Not everyone wants and SUV.  And you can call them crossovers or whatever you want, but it is still an SUV.  The Escape, Edge, and Explorer are still SUV's.  A rose by any other name.....  Please bring back the wagon.  The time has come.  With gas prices rising ever further you don't want to be left out of what could be a very lucrative market segment.  Thank you for your time and any response you want to give.  I look forward to seeing a Focus wagon at the 2015 North American International Auto Show.  Thanks again.
