I have bought new vans since 1990. I like the option of having 9 feet inside with seats out. The last one is an E-350 Chateau diesel because I tow a 34 ft cargo trailer, 10,000 pounds. I just had to order a new Ford F-250 diesel. NO DIESEL in the vans. I ordered a crew cab with a 6&3/4 bed. The long bed would not work for me.
It would be nice if the crew cab rear wall could be unlocked and moved 18 inches forward and the front panel of the bed be dropped so I could have an 8 foot platform with tail gate up! The rear window panel would have to be raised up outward, or possibly inward. I think Chevy?, tried this, not sure!
I had a second vehicle that was a F-150 gas. BUT today I can't afford the cost of running 2 vehicles. There are times I carry things that are heavy and do not want to run with gate down. Like a 1/8 scale model locomotive that weighs between 700-1100 pounds. It may sound silly but silly ideas have turned into workable things.
Thanks, Bruce Saylor

Charlee Thompson Just give me a 4 door with an 8' bed and I'll be happy. 2 months(s) ago via Ford Social
Luis Lujan I like this, to an extent. The idea is good, it just depends on execution. The Avalanche had a system whereby you could remove the rear glass, drop the back wall forward, and this extended the bed about 18", but the roof of the truck is still there. 3 months(s) ago via Ford Social
