One of the best things about Ford Social is the number of great stories that we have from all of our members. Some of our favorite stories are those that involve the restoration of old Fords.
There’s just something about the act of taking a neglected vehicle and transforming it back to its original condition. It takes a lot of sweat, patience and resources to breathe new life into a decaying car or truck. And while the process can be frustrating, your stories usually include something a note that the end result is worth it.
We would like to honor those Ford Social members that have had the patience, skill and vision to rebuild a forgotten vehicle. Today we bring you a selection of some of our favorite stories from Ford Social members that dared to dream and recreate a Ford from a bygone era.
As you can expect, some of the most popular restoration projects that have been shared on Ford Social included a Ford Mustang, and this one is about two of them! This is a story of two brothers, each of whom had a Mustang in their youth. One was bought on a paper route; the other had a very interesting origin. After the original restoration, these ponies are being passed on to another generation.
Speaking of Mustangs, Melissa recently came into owning her father’s Candy Apple Red 1967. You see, back in the day, her dad had to sell it to his dad until it ended up in an aunt’s garage in need of a full restoration. This Ford Social member saw a Ford F-150 with a 4.9L straight six and just couldn’t pass it up, despite some significant wear and tear. It took a couple of decades of driving by the house with the old Model A languishing in the garage before Rotten finally charmed the widow of the original owner into buying it. This is a story of patience, perseverance and a piece of Ford history.
Anthony’s first car was also his first Mustang. He found it stuck in a field of mud and bought it with the $500 he had saved and an equal match from his father.
