Is Your Ford a Hero?
FEB
15

The recent severe winter storms in much of the U.S. and Canada gave many Ford owners an opportunity to be a hero. One person submitted a story to us about using his Ford F-150 to pull semi trucks up an ice and snow covered hill. You can read the whole story by clicking here. The video clip below from myfoxdfw.com shows a good Samaritan with a Ford F-250 assisting a FedEx truck that has become stranded on Interstate 30.

This got us thinking…how have you used your Ford vehicle to be a hero? Rescuing stranded vehicles is good, but we’d also like to hear about using your Ford Taurus to assist with home-bound people, or your Explorer to take supplies to a remote area. Your act doesn’t have to be huge to have a big impact in someone’s life. And we’d like to hear about it.

If you have a story that you’re ready to share, click here to go to Your Stories.

If you don’t have your own hero story but want to read others, you can check them out in the Your Stories section of the site.

Cathy We traded in our 2000 Toyota Sequoia for a preowned 1999 Ford F 250 Diesel Truck - both with almost indentical mileage in the low 50,000 range - 3 years ago. Now the Ford truck has 92,400 miles, runs PERFECT, looks PERFECT, has pulled travel trailers, boats, hauled LOADS of furniture all over Texas, pulled grapevines out of fences, kept us safe when we hit an Axis deer, and generally just gave us not a moment's trouble. We just gave it a really nice wash, inside & out today, she shines like a new penny, and well keep her till our boats stop running or we do, one or the other. That diesel engine is just awesome. There's nothing it can't do! We LOVE our truck! Cathy Newton, Texas

Mike My dad got a 2010 f150 with the 5.4 and i have an 04 f150 with the 5.4. well during the ice storm my 78 year old grandpa with Parkinson got my grandmas van stuck in a 3 foot ditch. He has a 1999 7.3 but the door was iced shut. so my dad in his new ford hooks up to it pulls the van 40 mph with the van sideways then with the brakes locked up. i shall never doubt the 5.4 again

mlosuno I'm in Lubbock, Tx and an 18 y.o. college freshman and we recently had what for Texas is a lot of snow. My '08 Focus had no trouble getting a grip, but i kept laughing at all of the older people who thought they knew better sitting there spinning their tires in Escalades and Suburbans. My Ford may not be a big hero, but it did allow me to get some laughs in at GM's expense.

Ernest Pons I drive a 2004 Town Car Signature L. When I saw Monday's announcement that the MKT is to be the next "town car," I nearly cried. That ugly THING is the next Town Car? How sad. If you're going to end the panther platform please give us a dignified alternative.

Tommy Blackston My 1994 Mercury Marquis is still running strong. I purchased it 8 years ago with 100,000 actual miles on the odometer. It now has 260,000 + or - on the original motor transmission and rear end. Why did Ford decide to end production of theses cars. They are the best.

Timothy Foshee My 2002 F150 FX4 has helped many people on the interstate and back roads of south Louisiana. I have had several people thank me for helping them out of the ditch or get towed to a gas station. I even had the police stop interstate traffic as I pulled several cars from the median from a near collision in the rain on Christmas eve. That truck has been through several hurricanes, one tornado, several floods, blizzards, and a couple of ice storms. Never once failed me. I've hauled buildings with it, pulled stumps, hauled hay and our family boat a few times. The kicker, it is 225k miles and runs great!! Keep it up Ford

Trey Spooner I was in a crash in my 2005 F-150. I went off the road into a ditch running along the street, and hit a low cement barrier. The forward momentum of the truck caused the bed of the truck to flip up and over the cab, turning the truck around, as the truck flew back onto the road now facing the other direction and landed on the passenger side. I climbed out of the truck and waited for the fire truck to get there. My worst injury was a bruise for the seatbelt. My Ford was my hero.
