Ford F-Series Trucks Number One for 35 Years Running
JAN
25

Any long-time fan of the Ford F-Series trucks won’t be surprised to hear that for the 35th year in a row, the F-Series is the best-selling truck in America.  And it has been America’s best-selling vehicle overall for 30 years. With 584,917 trucks sold in 2011, the F-Series was the only vehicle to break the 500,000 vehicle sales mark for the year.

Obviously, F-Series owners love their trucks. But in addition to that, Motor Trend magazine named the F-150 2012 Truck of the Year®, the fourth time the F-150 has captured that honor. Motor Trend praised the variety of configurations, powertrain options, efficiency, value, advanced design and performance.

How do you continue to be best-selling truck year in and year out? With capability, durability and loads of available features. For example, look at the 2012 Ford F-150 powertrain lineup that delivers a mix of best-in-class fuel economy, horsepower, torque, and capability. Consider the powerful and fuel-efficient 3.5-liter EcoBoost™ engine, which now accounts for more than 40 percent of F-150 retail sales. In fact, more than 100,000 EcoBoost F-150 pickups sold in less than a year on the market. In fact, more than 100,000 EcoBoost F-150 pickups sold in less than a year on the market.

The 2012 Ford F-Series Super Duty® gives customers what they are looking for in terms heavy duty of power and capability, ensuring it stays at the head of the pack. The 2012 Ford F-Series Super Duty tow rating is 17,500 pounds with conventional bumper hitch and 24,500 pounds with fifth-wheel hitch. The Ford-designed and Ford-built 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 diesel engine delivers best-in-class fuel economy and power at 400 horsepower and 800 lbs-ft. of torque. The standard 6.2-liter V8 gas engine also has best-in-class fuel economy and produces a best-in-class 405 lb.-ft. of torque and 385 horsepower.

Are you an F-Series truck owner? Or have you owned one in the past 35 years? Maybe more than one? We want to know why you have helped the truck capture the number one spot on the top-selling truck in America list for 35 years in a row. Submit a story about you and your Ford truck at Your Stories. If you have a photo or video to share, we’d love to see that to!

And if you’re a Super Duty owner, we have a special website called We Own Work, where you can view videos that share stories of workers who use Super Duty trucks to accomplish work on real job sites across the U.S.

Charles I have a 2006 F150 XLT 5.4L supercab. I love it and I wouldn't buy anything else. I it by far the most well build half ton. Drives great. and will haul the most! It rides very well for how stiff the suspension is. the suspension is stiff because of the durability. it has best in class towing, and payload. and the seats a very comfy too! BUY ONE! ITS A FAVOR TO YOURSELF

rick Just bought my first new f150xlt crew cab 4x4 off road pkg. saved up for 6 years. Love the truck and all the room in it for the family. I am wondering though what ford plans on doing about the hood paint peeling problem on them. i have less than 2000 miles on it and it has been in body shop 2 times now to touch up the hood, checked other new 2013 and 2012 trucks on lots and they are also peeling on the front edge of the hood to the left and right side of the grill.

Tommy Humphreys I agree with another article that was posted here, that the F150 is just too big. I am sure that it is a fine vehicle and there are probably people that can use a vehicle like this, but there are people that don't. I would like to see Ford come out with a pick up about the size that the F150's were in the 70's 80's & 90's. Call it an F100 ! Also, you used to be able to get a top of the line regular cab short bed truck in a two or four wheel drive with all the bells and whistles. Now all you can get is a work truck or something with some of the nice accessories, but not exactly what you want. I would like to buy a loaded sporty looking regular cab short bed truck, but this is not an option.

Jim My first car was a '57 Ford Fairlane hardtop with a Thunderbird Special engine, "3 on the tree" with OD and I've owned a number of Fords since then including my current '04 Ranger Edge. Ford had abandoned me with the dropping of the Ranger. I just don't need a truck the size of the F-150 as wonderful as it is. And it won't fit on my garage either. I'd be at the doorstep as would many more, if there was anew Ranger with a 2.0 Ecoboost or better a 3.0 turbo diesel available.

Larry Roop all but the ford f 150 eco boost, i own one not impressed with it, fuel milage the engine and the wearing of tires at 7000 miles. I bought one new with 178 miles on it. The problem is I have been a ford driver since 1979 nothing but them. Wishing I still had my first one, she never let me down allways dependable. Taking it to dealer friday to see if the problems are corrected if not who knows, what. Hopefully others with the ford f 150 will stand beside me cause it isn't what they said it would be. They should have given me the one I wanted, not what they wanted me to have. Don't get me wrong at first in the test drive it was great but wait till you change the oil twice and rotate the tire as they say, it goes down hill. Ford, may I ask why you didn't do more research on this before putting on the market???

Jim Carr ive had a 75 f100 360 v8 4x4 wasnt much u couldnt do with that trk.also had an 01 superduty crew cab 4x4 with the 5.4 loved that truck iwould do anything u could think of then some. It pulled my loaded 18 wheeler out of a mud slick it wasnt sunk but just stuck on the mud the 250 never spun a wheel as it walked that trk out. Also pull my uncels 2x4 bow tie out of his front yard loved my 250. Had two 99 150s with 4.6s in them lots of power great trks but the 4.6 never held up long both trks through rods never lost oil psi when they did it. Ford is the only trk ill ever buy. And im very glad ford got rid of the 4.6 in the 150s. That was the only fault theyve had. Alos had an E150 it wasnt to bad either loved the 5.0 roller lifter stang motor it came stock with it ran till i took it to the junk yard after the trans out it only had 1st and 2nd and reverse when i drove it into the junk yard. Ford rules all and is the only brand to tell obahma to keep thier money and fixed thier own money problems.

edvard While the F-150 is great and all and I don't want to dilute the thread, I'm also one of the many out there who don't really want a full sized truck. I grew up with small trucks and still drive one today. We've had Rangers, Nissans, and my current truck- a 16 year old Tacoma. I have a long commute and can't reasonably justify a large truck that at best gets in the lower 20's MPG-wise. So with that said, I and many others would LOVE it if you were to bring back either the Ranger in a fully modernized form or an entirely new truck. Something with a small diesel would be even better. I'm also not really concerned if my truck has seat warmers, a computerized dashboard and power windows. What's really lacking these days are trucks that are more like... trucks and not basically cars with all the frills and gadgets. Just give us an honest, bare-bones, smaller but hard working truck and we will be happy.

Timothy Rice I love Fords, but the only reason they didn't take bailout money was because of there greed. I would own nothing but a Ford, but I know deep down, and from dozens of fellow/previous Ford owners, if anything goes wrong, it always your fault and is never covered, even if 400,000+ people have sparkplugs blowing out of there heads (4.6, 5.4 & 6.8) Its your fault of course, can't be Fords error...oh no..of course not...
