Being 83 years old doesn’t mean you need to slow down. Just look at Jack Kain, the dealer principal behind Jack Kain Ford in Versailles, Kentucky, and a man that many years young. His family operation includes one daughter and three sons, who work alongside him at the dealership.
Jack’s got a passion for people and automobiles – which puts him in the perfect job! He likes meeting new people and hearing their stories and sharing his own. But his warmth and passion extend beyond the vehicle lot – he’s a visionary in the communities of Versailles and Wodford. His son, Bob, general manager at Jack Kain Ford, explained, “He’s taught us how important it is to give back to the community. He’s always said to us, whatever we give to the community we’ll get back twofold.”
Jack has been dedicated to economic development in the community, always asking what personally he can give back, which has resulted in him championing access to health care, including saving a hospital and helping with its future viability, and founding a senior center and alcohol/drug rehab center. He’s a proponent of organ donation, and for every car sold at his dealership, a portion of the profits is donated to the Kentucky Trust for Life organ donation program. He’s also a supporter of the military, being a retired Air Force officer himself, and the dealership adopts local military units and sends them supplies and gifts via the Military Support Fund. Why? Because he remembers what it was like to go to roll call and not hear his name. But Jack is quick to point out it takes a village to make a difference: “It’s not just me giving back to the community. Our whole dealership is involved.”
Jack continues to embrace the future and what more he can do. “And I want to die with my boots on, selling a car, hopefully!”
