If you like to laugh, you have to check out “Escape My Life,” a web-based episodic comedy series about a down-on-her-luck wardrobe designer in desperate need of a new ride. You might even learn something about the new Ford Escape.
The eight-episode series stars standup comedian Natasha Leggero who can be seen regularly on E!’s “Chelsea Lately” and Comedy Central’s “Ugly American,” actor Joe Lo Truglio who appeared in “Superbad” and “Pineapple Express” and the all-new Ford Escape. Ruben Fleischer, the director of “Zombieland” and the upcoming “Gangster Squad,” is directing the series.
In the first episode, viewers meet Skylar Browning (played by Leggero) as she steps out of a taxi onto the set of a commercial, laden down with clothing. While commiserating with her friend about her transportation situation, she hears about a Ford marketing program that offers free cars to “high-profile” individuals from the entertainment industry. While she says that she isn’t exactly “high-profile,” she figures she might as well give it a shot.
After meeting with the quirky head of the program and signing an ominously large contract, she finds herself driving home in an all-new 2013 Ford Escape. Life is good, right? New car, no strings attached.
Well, that’s not entirely accurate. When she arrives home, she is startled to find a man climbing out of the back of her car, luggage in hand, asking to use her bathroom. That would be Barry (played by Truglio), a product specialist from Detroit who knows the ins and outs of the Escape. And he’s part of the package.
The storyline unfolds from there, with Skylar and Barry creating comedy while showcasing the features of the all-new Escape in an easy-to-digest format.
