It takes a warrior’s courage to fight breast cancer. It takes a warrior’s dedication to deal with the everyday triumphs and stumbling blocks. It takes a warrior’s strength to fight, day in and day out, 365 days a year. It takes a warrior to face the adversity that is cancer.
The Warriors in Pink “Models of Courage” program is just one of the ways that the organization brings to light the real life stories of breast cancer survivors. The nine women and two men selected to serve as Models of Courage come from different cities, different cultures, and different generations. They are married, single, working moms and retired grandparents. In their roles as Warriors in Pink Models of Courage, they serve as ambassadors for Ford and the fight against breast cancer, sharing their very personal stories of hope and survival, reaching out to others in need of support and encouragement.
One of the many ways the Warrior in Pink Models of Courage help spread their message is through “Courage Talks,” a series of short, insightful and inspirational videos. Take for example, the prospect of telling your young children you have cancer. Tina, a seven year cancer survivor shares her experience explaining mommy’s bad bump to her then three and five year old girls in the “Talking to Kids” segment; Nicole, a four year survivor talks about being single and returning to the dating world after her treatment in the “Relationships” piece. Then there is coping with the fear, the fear that every little pain means something more. Three year survivor Darrell talks about being afraid and his constant calls to his doctor in “Handling Fear.” Watch these honest conversations on tough subjects at warriorsinpink.ford.com/courage-talks.
“The Ford Warriors in Pink campaign, with $120 million dedicated to the cause, is nowhere near done. As long as breast cancer affects our moms, sisters, daughters, fathers and sons we will continue to fight,” said Tracy Magee, Ford Primary Brand Experiential Manager. “The personal stories and experiences of the Models of Courage will help raise awareness, as well as inspire those battling breast cancers to continue the fight. Their stories inspire me every day.”
This year, Ford Warriors in Pink is giving breast cancer supporters the chance to win a new 2013 Warriors in Pink Fusion Hybrid. Supporters can view rules for the contest and enter to win at fordvehicles.emipowered.net/2013wipsweeps.
