Ford Sales are Up, Up, Up

FEB

January 2010 proved to be a home run for Ford sales. It’s not very often that combined sales, as well as sales for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands, all post a significant increase. In addition, Ford sales increased in each vehicle segment: cars, crossovers, SUVs, trucks and vans. New products, fuel-efficient powertrain, new technology contribute to the continued sales growth for Ford.

Combined vehicle sales in January were up 24 percent compared to one year ago.  Here’s the breakdown by brand and segment:

  • Ford brand sales up 26 percent
  • Lincoln brand up 16 percent
  • Mercury brand up 6 percent
  • Ford cars were up 43 percent
  • Ford crossovers were up 20 percent
  • Ford SUVs were up 8 percent
  • Ford trucks and vans were up 14 percent

All of this gave Ford a U.S. market share of approximately 16 percent, up 2 full points versus one year ago! Last year, Ford posted its first full-year U.S. market share increase since 1995.

“Ford’s focus on building products consumers want to buy and love to drive will continue,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing Sales and Service. “In 2010, we will give Ford customers even more reasons to drive one.”

Additional Sales Highlights

  • Ford Fusion, recently named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, posted a January sales increase of 49 percent.  The Fusion Hybrid recently was named North American Car of the Year.®
  • Ford Taurus sales totaled 3,768, up 121 percent versus a year ago. Since the introduction of the all-new model in August, Taurus sales are nearly double year-ago levels.
  • Crossover utility models also posted strong sales increases. In 2009, the Ford brand was the top-selling brand of crossovers in the U.S., led by the Ford Escape. In January, Escape sales were up 29 percent versus a year ago, Edge sales were up 26 percent and Lincoln MKX sales were up 27 percent.
  • Ford’s F-Series, America’s best-selling truck for 33 years in a row and best-selling vehicle – car or truck – for 28 years in row, posted a 9 percent increase in January, and Ford Ranger compact pickup sales were up 47 percent. In 2009, F-Series increased its leadership position among full-size pickups with a 4 percentage-point gain in segment share.
  • Transit Connect, Ford’s new versatile, fuel-efficient small commercial van, posted January sales of 1,161. The Transit Connect recently was named North American Truck of the Year.  Econoline, Ford’s full-size van, saw a sales increase of 5 percent.

Milton Reeve I'm looking forward to the 2011 Mustang GT. My 2008 GT blows the door off my 2009 Challenger RT, I love it. I'm Happy to see the last American car company is having success in sales and development, keep up the good work.

ans/supporters deserve a Ford manual transmission truck like the Ford Super Duty's ZF 6 speed OD Manual was my favortie transmission I want it back in the ford super duty where it belongs it makes driving the ford super duty funner, better fuel economy the new 6 speed Automatic makes the diesel/gas use to much fuel , easier on maintenace and repairs and cheaper on the purchase price So People/ Loyal Super Duty Customers want the ZF 6-speed OD Manual with the 6.7 Powerstroke diesel or the 6.2 Gas engine but the ZF 6-speed OD manual is better off being the partner transmission with the 6,7 Powerstroke , Automatics are too expansive on repairs, use too much fuel, makes driving boring , etc.So Ford wake up and listen to your loyal customers/ fans like me and reoffer the ZF 6 Speed OD back in Ford F250-550 Super Duty Trucks , you owe us that your customers So Ford Please reoffer the ZF 6-speed Manual, there is still a DEMAND We Canadians and Amercians deserve our Manual Transmission option back auto dont cut it Dodge is taking Sales on their Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 Equipped Manual diesels , My reasons are the same as anybody's. Control, reliability, economy, etc. The Manuals aka ZF 6-speed OD Manual are so far superior to automatics in those regards that my feeling is that if I know/Learned how to drive one of them, I'm crazy if I don't. It seems like the automatic transmission is always the first thing to give trouble in a truck. lthough I realize that most consumers prefer an automatic, there are those of us who don't. I understand that there are costs associated with designing a truck with 2 types of transmissions, so why not make it an extra cost option? I'd be willing to pay up to $500 additional for a standard, and yes, I would wait the extra 6 weeks. It's a shame you disoffered the ZF 6speed OD Manual and you were so wrong to Do that and WE Want it back Badly in our super duty, here a high demand for it Josh
