A Photo Essay of the New 2013 Ford Fusion

There’s no denying the new 2013 Ford Fusion is photogenic. One look at the design, then another look at the innovation that accompanies it, and you spot a package that is not only unique, but also stylish and sleek. It speaks to high fashion, eco-friendliness, global DNA and the future of technology. It also speaks to something that would be a blast to drive.

When it came to shooting photography of the Fusion, the question became, where? What location would also encompass those attributes? Turns out, it’s Brooklyn.

Staten Island is where the Fusion hit the open road. The Bronx epitomized a location to talk about the green Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi Plug-In Hybrid, thanks to the massive amount of parkland. Manhattan is the epicenter of what’s new and is also the pulse of trends on the East Coast, and the Fusion is leading the way with automotive trends of its own. And Queens is diverse, matching the One Ford philosophy of working together as a team, globally.

Brooklyn Bridge Park was the most public photo shoot, and the car temporarily took on celebrity status while parked, as both locals and tourists swarmed it and snapped photos of themselves with car. The Fusion also traveled through Midtown, visited the Unisphere and saw the Verrazano Bridge, among its many stops while cruising through the five boroughs of the Big Apple.

The Fusion offers two EcoBoost® engines, a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid, answering the call of all fuel economy needs. In addition to powertrain options, driver assistance and convenience features run the gamut, including Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) with sensors that alert the driver to traffic in the blind spot, as well as active park assist, to help with identifying suitable parallel parking and steering into the proper position. It also features Adaptive Cruise Control, which combines traditional cruise control with abilities such as automatically adapting to the highway speed, as well as Lane Keeping System, which helps the driver avoid leaving a lane unintentionally.

It’s difficult to upstage the beauty and sights of New York City, but as you can see, the all-new Fusion holds its own in such high-profile company. It’s an entirely new idea of what a car can be.

Frederic S Recently purchased 2013 loaded SE manual tranny. Did lots of research and came to the same conclusion as this article. This car exceeds all of my expectations. It is gorgeous, wonderful technology, and a blast to drive. I researched all the competition. I made the absolute right choice. Accord and Camry not even close. Consumer Reports is all wet!

Jim E WHY Can't I get a 2 DOOR Fusion and Taurus?? A Convertible !!!!! Sport Edition with Bigger Boost, Bigger Wider Wheels/Tires, Even Better Handling, a Toned Exhaust and Mild to Aggressive Spoilers/Air Dams/Scoops. A Fusion GT, SS(Sport Sedan), ESS(European Sport Sedan [remember those]) to go up against Europe's 2 door Sedans/Coupes/Convertibles. I Always Wanted a 2 door/Converible Taurus SHO when they were 1st introduced!!! A Mid-Size 2 dr Sedan/Sport Coupe is what a Lot of Us Desire OVER a Mustang, although I do have an 89 Mustang GT Convertible which sits in the garage and gets used on nice days a few times a year. I have an 84 TBird Turbo Coupe and an 86 TBird V8 which are also garaged now. Ford has really NOT offered a 2dr Mid Size Sedan for the Middle Aged & Older Drivers that do NOT want a 4dr and are NOT Willing to drive a Sports Car. The TBird/Cougars were Perfect and Sold a lot of cars but Again, Where Do WE Go Now(STILL), an Absolutely Awful Looking, Overpriced Caddy?? Chrysler? or an Expensive BMW/Mercedes ??? A 2 dr. Sedan could/would be used Every Day, is bigger to go out with friends in the Same Car and is Elegant/Sophisticated enough for the Red Carpet, the Country Club and Will Grab Attention at the Local Car Show and Supermarket !! The younger crowd still feels like a 4dr is Mom & Dad's or even the Grand Parent's car, well that goes for me too. Thanks

Ryan J I am very impressed with this car. it looks stunning and, after taking it on a test drive, performs and handles exceptionally. I drove the SE with the 1.6L EcoBoost engine and the automatic 6 - speed trans. The interior was also very well designed. Overall very good car, Can't wait to become a owner of one.

David C I like the car's styling a lot, except for the rear deck and tail lights...Too bulbous and bug-eyed,an error compounded by making the deck conform to the shape of the ugly tail lights...Think Audi A7 for direction on how to resolve this problem...And it is a problem. One ugly spot on something that looks great,or would,is a deal breaker...Tail lights and deck from the side look fine, except for the roundness of the t-l lens, but from a rear-quarter view and from directly behind, the new Fusion is off-putting.
