Is Ford considering bringing a diesel over for the Ford Focus? There is a market for a good diesel.

We continually evaluate new powertrain options for our customers all over the globe. Currently the cost benefit for a diesel option here in the US is more than what we are willing to pass on to our customers. We believe our current engine meets our customers’ needs. It delivers our customers’ performance expectations while achieving excellent fuel economy.

Rick I will not even consider buying a Ford until you introduce diesel models for your passenger cars. So, I guess I'll be buying a TDI insteaed. Bye.

bryan l i don't see diesel taking off in the states. price is a major disadvantage.

Robert I was recently in the UK for 4 weeks and rented a new Focus diesel. It was a nicely performing car and in mixed driving got 43 mpg! To me that was very impressive and might fill a niche in the US for those interested in fuel economy.
